Course Etiquette

Players on the golf course "Piedra So" must at least have some knowledge about the general rules and regulations about the game and behavior on the course, as are conducted by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. As the course of Piedra So is very special and significantly different from regular courses having beautiful fairways and greens, we were forced to make some local rules.

1.

Animals have priority above players.

2.

The flags are fixed in the holes, please do not try to take them out.

3.

It is allowed to replace the ball everywhere in the course to a maximum of a full scorecard length and never closer to the flag.

4.

It is allowed to tee up the ball everywhere on natural material or (winter) tees. It’s never allowed to tee up the driver other than on the tee box.

5.

A ball landing in bushes within one traditional putter length may be replaced two club lengths from the point of entry, however not closer to the hole, without a penalty.

6.

The white poles/markers on hole 8 mark “out of bounds”.

7.

White painted rocks mark 200 yards to the flag.

8.

Blue painted rocks in the fairway marks 150 yards to the flag.

9

Red painted rocks in the fairway marks 100 yards to the flag.

Always play within the spirit of the game!

Out of bounds:

The official out of bounds rule is now applicable:

go (back) to where the previous stroke was made under penalty of stroke and distance (1 penalty stroke). When the ball is likely or suspected to be out of bounds, then to save time a player can/should play a provisional ball from the last played position.

Ball in bushes:

• The ball in in the bushes where you can see it: you may move the ball within two club lenghts but never closer to the hole.

If you can place and play the ball from that position, you can play that ball without penalty.

• If it’s impossible to play the ball from that position, you can tee up the ball within 2 club lengths from the edge of the bushes

but never closer to the hole, taking 1 penalty stroke.

• If you see the ball go into the bushes but cannot find it, you take 2 club lengths from the point of entry, never closer to the hole,

and take 1 penalty stroke.
